A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. -

The Lion and the Lamb

Kaybrie was playing with her Little People the other day, she took the lamb from her Nativity set, the table and chairs from her Castle set, and the lion from her Noah's Ark set. I couldn't help but take a picture of this! My 2 year old unknowingly is depicting a great scene, and a very significant one at that!
In Revelation 5, John describes Jesus Christ as both the Lion and the Lamb!

2nd Grade Field Trip-Oxley Nature Center

Braden's 2nd Grade Class

I love, love, love being a SAHM! Before, when I worked FT, I had to accept the fact that I was never going to get to participate in any of Braden's school activities. On Wednesday, I volunteered to go w/ his class on a field trip to the Oxley Nature Center. Imagine, 3 busloads of 2nd graders and a whole caravan of parents driving North on Hwy 169 to North Tulsa- hmm what a sight. Once the students and volunteers arrived, we were given instructions on what to do and not to do. #1-follow your guide, oh no, there was not a guide, I was the guide! Ha! Ha! I had 3 boys in my group including Braden. We were armed with magnifying glasses, a clipboard for our nature hunt, and my cell phone (thank God I did not have to use it). We saw beavers, water moccasins, footprints, a tree that had been struck by lightning (Braden allowed that I was pretty cool for pointing that out), and lots of poison ivy! Honestly, we did not follow the #1 rule, I let the boys lead- come on three, 8 yr old boys are not going to follow a MOM! After the Nature Hunt, we were ready for lunch. We ate our picnic lunch at Mohawk Park. Oh, did I forget that we had a record high temperature that day of 91degrees!

Braden & his pals studying their Nature Hunt sheet!Gotta have a silly pic!

Girlfriends: Gotta Have 'Em, Can't Live Without 'Em

For those of you who do not know, I became a SAHM two years ago after I had Kaybrie. Yes, I ended a 10 year banking career to enjoy a lifetime career of mothering! With my new career, I found I was missing something. FRIENDS. Yep, gotta have 'em, and I can't live without 'em! My new found BFF's are the result of a Stroller Workout Class that has come and gone, but we have all continued to workout, talk & eat together! Good times!

My MIL has such a generous heart. She invited "the girls" over to her home this past Monday for lunch. She made the Ham & Cheese Quiche, Chocolate Cake and Hot Rolls and I made the Strawberry & Spinach Salad. We also decided to incorporate a Surprise Baby Shower for Carrie O. We had so much fun. Thank you Lord for blessing me with such a wonderful group of Girlfriends!

My BFF's and Kiddos!

The Strawberry Spinach Salad, Very Pretty!

Mom & Daughter Day

Our friends Stacye & Faith called us up this morning and asked us to lunch. The two females of the 4-Crow's never turn down an opportunity to eat lunch out with friends! I texted Stacye back & said how about a pedicure, great photo op! So we were set for our rainy Friday plans. Lunch at Back Creek Deli in downtown Broken Arrow, yummy! If you haven't ever eaten there, the potato soup is a must! Then on to the nail place......
Faith & Kaybrie patiently waiting for their Moms!
Actually a local retailer flagged us down and gave the girls orange & yellow candy bracelets that stained the girls face, hands, & arms bright orange!

The Girl's were so good, you can tell that they are both destined to be girly girls, and of course their Mother's wouldn't have it any other way.
What a fantastic, fun filled day! After we finished at the nail place,
on to Sonic for Happy Hour and Ice Cream!

The Hog Fan Rats!

What Boy Wouldn't Want to Be a Fan?
(Nov '08 Arkansas/TU game)

Most of you who read my blog on a regular basis, know that the Crow family are huge Arkansas Fans. Yes, we try to make a football game at least once a year, courtesy of my MIL for mine and Jason's b-day. Now, to be honest, before I met Jason, I did not even really know the the Razorbacks existed. At first, everything was OU/Arkansas House divided, that all changed, quickly in the whole scheme of wedded bliss.....The Hogs are definitely struggling. However, once you have been to a game you become a stinkin' fan.....or at least I did. You have to love the Razorbacks, Win or Lose, that is just what true fans do! Not just support the team during their winning streaks, but all the way!

It is a given if you live in Oklahoma, that you cheer for OU or OSU or TU, and we do, except when the Razorbacks are playing them, which has only happened once, this past November, when we opened a can of WoooPigSoooie all over the Golden Hurricane. I am starting to see more and more Razorback fans now in Eastern Oklahoma, but of course it doesn't go farther West than Tulsa or further South than Broken Arrow. A common attire for our family is a Red Hog T-Shirt, shorts or jeans, and tennis shoes! Can't help it, comfort is in, minority is out!

Now the reason for this post. Braden has about seven Arkansas shirts, ranging from T-Shirt's, hoodies, jersey's etc..and usually four out of the five days of the school week, he wears one. The boy has no shame, and for three years now, he has not let it be a secret about the team he supports. But for some reason yesterday, J.R. a boy in his class, and one of Braden's bud's, decided to pick on Braden about it. Now my eight year old is very tall for his age, and has a huge heart, and face it he just doesn't like being picked on, who does? But, instead of standing up for himself, guess what he did (oh is he gonna kill me when he reads this in 20 yrs), no he did not throw a punch, but did the alternative, HE TATTLED! Come on son, its a T-Shirt for crying out loud-oh yeah, I guess you pretty much did that when you ratted on your friend, huh?
So Braden's teacher
Mrs. M, who is a huge OSU fan and has to look at the Hog everyday, had J.R. write Braden an apology note. I think this is just sweet. What a memory for the scrapbook, now Braden needs to write 100X on the chalkboard, This Hog Fan will not Rat!

Take Me Back Tuesday

Here it is, my first official post for the "days of the week", I've seen these everywhere, and yes, I need to get lots of pics scanned & saved, so this is an incentive for me. Thanks to my SIL at LizzyDear'sLife for getting me started! And to A Giveaway Addicted Mommy for the origination of Take Me Back Tuesday, Jump on Board!

So, this is Chuck Norris and Me in 1990, gosh would I kill to be at that weight again with the beauty I have acquired over the past 19 years! Ha! Ha! I was a Junior in H.S. Yes, Chucky Baby claims my Hometown of Wilson as his own hometown, we had a huge Homecoming and Anti-Drug Rally. It was neat being on TV interviews and then actually getting to ask Chuck questions behind the press lines. One of my dear cousins Correna Wilson-Pickens helped organize this event, and helped Miss Wilma (Chuck's Mom) during her fight with breast cancer. Correna co-authored a book entitled Sheltered In His Arms. This book chronicles Miss Wilma's life from a child into adulthood.
I haven't had the opportunity to read the book yet, but hopefully when I get back home this weekend for Easter, I will get my very own autographed copy, hint;) hint;) to the author's......

And yes, I am taller than him, note that he has the Wilson P.D. hat on (what an old style of baseball cap), those were the days......and I did still have my braces on!

Littlest Mommy!

On Friday, Kaybrie got to go to Grandma's house for a visit. Grandma or "MeMaw" as Kaybrie has renamed her, had a surprise for Kaybrie! In addition to the baby bed that already stays at Grandma's house was a new rocking baby doll cradle & baby doll rocker, just for Kaybrie!

Great Uncle Bill made the baby beds and little rocker years ago. Great-Grandma Mama Lois had them at her house, and Cousin Lois Ann played with them when she was a little girl. The Quilt covering the cradle pad was handmade by Great-Grandma Mama Lois. Great Aunt Katie brought them when she came Wednesday. Of course, Kaybrie was in baby doll heaven and instant mommy mode. She just so happened to have brought her Cabbage Patch, Pricilla Belinda and Little Pony, Pinkie Pie to play with.

I just love family heirlooms, and I am so honored that Kaybrie gets the privilege of playing with these items until we pass them down to the next McConnell granddaughter!
