The RHOK Reads: From My Nest

The RHOK

This week we've been reading Part 2 of Black Heels to Tractor Wheels by Ree Drummond, aka The Pioneer Woman.

(yeah, they think that's where I'm at- I won't tell them the truth- nope they won't get any of this down me-Ree's tip: vodka + orange juice = truth serum)

That poor butter colored wool suit. What was Ree thinking. Oklahoma, humidity, and wool.  All I could think of was the analogy, "Sweating like a HO in church"- Ree definitely put a twist on that bless her heart- but I guess you need to read this awesome book to know what exactly I'm talking about, right?!?

Oh and Marlboro Man- I love him. So calm and non-chalant. Waiting until she said IT, those three little  big words to him before making that trek to the city to get the ring and then reaching into his pocket and simply saying "Do you wanna get married?" I thought it was perfect.

Bra and Panty woman mowing the lawn- what's the big deal? She lives in the back 40, its her back 40 if you don't like it don't look. I've seen worse I guess. Bra and panties cover up more than some swimsuits.

Now we are supposed to be reading Part 3 for next week!!
Get this book, its the best read I've read in a long while!!!

In My Neck of The Woods

Around our nest I am always taking pictures. But its not often that you see The 4-Crow's pictured together! Give us a holiday like Easter where I get to coordinate our outfits and you can bet my nest that I am going to get some snapshots! Special thanks to my Moma for getting these in after church on Sunday. Which I have to tell a funny story about that one.
We attended my hometown church of Rexroat Baptist in Wilson. We were in the middle of singing The Old Rugged Cross, you know the verse where Jesus died on the tree. Well Kaybrie was really paying attention. She looked up at me and said pretty loud- Jesus did not die on a tree, He died on THE CROSS! She was determined to set the Baptist Hymnal Straight!

Moma & Daddy Crow
Braden & Kaybrie
The Family- yes my arm is at a weird angle, the wind was blowing and  I had just finished moving my hair, not sure if I was putting it down or on my hip! LOL
Now its your turn to tell The RHOK what is going on in your Neck of the Woods. Make sure you link up this week, because we want to know!

My Neck of The Woods-Tushka

I think for today's edition of What's Going on in My Neck of the Woods, I have to go back to where my family roots began. You see my Moma was born and raised in Tushka, Oklahoma- just fell short of graduating there by one year when she married my Daddy in May of 1973 and moved to Wilson, OK- where she then graduated high school in 1974, the year I was born. For those of you who have watched any national weather coverage over the past few days, you know that this rural southeastern Oklahoma town of only 345 people was destroyed by an EF3 tornado on April 14, 2011. I praise God that my entire family- uncle, aunts, cousins and friends are safe. The loss of life in this town was 4. The damage to the community is unbelievable. The school completely leveled.

My Cousin Dwayne Tomlinson posted the following picture on his Facebook page on Sunday that his girlfriend Alyssia Shores took, along with the following caption. I knew then exactly what I needed to share with my readers today.

After almost every house was ripped from its foundation and trees that have stood more years than any of us are old were ripped from their roots and all from the ground, this is the message that people from Tushka AMERICA wants to put out; no matter how hard the wind blows or how much destruction gets thrown at us our determination and pride will conquer all. This flag stood tall after the storm. This picture was taken hours after the storm hit. Nobody put it up. It survived through the night. To all the families that lost everything stand strong, like Ole' Glory has.

Tushka is a part of My Neck of the Woods, without it I wouldn't be who I am today. I admire this community- there is no doubt the love it has for its neighbor which is a reflection of each one of their love of God. They will rebuild bigger and stronger than ever.

Thank you Dwayne and Alyssia for allowing me to repost- I love you both and I know that my readers will continue to lift this town in their prayers and if asked will do whatever need be done.

*I just realized as I type this that this will post on the 16th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing. How symbolic that Ole' Glory stands so strong.
...One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for All. Amen.

Link up today at The RHOK and tell us what is going on In Your Neck of the Woods!

The RHOK Reads: From My Nest

The RHOK

First of all let me just say, I am a very bad book clubber. I need to be clubbed. I'm one of those read ahead girls. I'm reading The Pioneer Woman's Black Heels to Tractor Wheels on my Kindle and it is easy to miss the fact that I am skipping through the pages a little too fast. Sorry Mrs. Edwards.
I L-O-V-E the book. I am of course a sucker for a good romance. I am finding it really hard to believe that
Miss Ree is such a "good" girl and that the make out sessions do not include anymore than K-I-S-S-I-N-G!
Oh, and about her Daddy dropping the bomb about the big "D"- well, I'm a little lot upset about the fact that Ree and her brothers and sister do not throw adult fits about it. I would.
Oh I just love MM, he is just so darn cool, calm and collected. Why didn't I grow up in his neck of the woods? LOL! I love premature graying men- I'm married to one!
Ree, whoa you really were kind of hoity toity! At least you admit it. How did you ever not sit in a bench seat of a pickup truck next to a boy. Didn't any of your girlfriends drive pickups and you cram as many boy/girl friends in as you could? Well, I did. But, I didn't grow up with a daddy as doctor and on a golf course- which by the way is Bartlesville like split by railroad tracks or something? The pickup boot wearing people live on one side and the golf cart, designer jean wearing girls on the other? I'm confused. I'll have to ask Mrs. "Normal" Sinclair about that one.
Did I mention that I love, love, love this book? I can't put it down. It seems that maybe a man really can sweep a city girl into the country life and make it work!
Hope you are reading with us, if not pick it up- believe me it won't be hard to catch up!

A Peek Into My Neck of the Woods

This week at The Crow's Nest, we congratulated Braden on his third consecutive 9 weeks on the Honor Roll. This time it was the A & B Honor Roll. He also got a certificate for perfect attendance and was recognized for several other accomplishments. We are so proud of our little scholar!

Also, T-Ball started. As you can see Kaybrie is the typical coaches daughter on third base. She makes my heart smile. All she wants to do is bat and run bases. Fielding is for the dandelions.

Well that's a little peek into my neck of the woods this week, what about you? Did you link up at The RHOK so we can peek into your woods?

A Sneak Peek Into My Neck of the Woods

Really. Someone just dumped their old recliner off at the end of my major road- 51st and 209th and just left it there. How rude. I mean really, what are they planning on doing next, drop off their big screen TV and microwave and eat some popcorn? And you wanna hear what else, the trash service has been by there at least 5x and still hasn't picked it up. Maybe their waiting to be invited to the popcorn party.
Anyone need a new recliner? It's free, all you have to do is haul it off yourself!

Today is the 1st day of our new meme- A Sneak Peek into Your Neck of the Woods at The RHOK. Won't you link up with us and give us a peek of what's happening in your woods?

In Loving Memory...

On Friday, I drove to Antlers, OK to say goodbye on Earth to a dear man. A rancher, dairyman, a hunter, a preacher, and an artillery soldier in WWII. Most of all a man who loved God, his family and his country. No, this man was not my grandfather, he belonged to my cousins- four beautiful girls.  Believe me though, they never minded sharing him! And he always had plenty of Mountain Dew and gingersnaps for all of us!
