Moma Crow finally met/made a Mac & Cheese she LOVES!

It's OklaHOT again!
I don't dare turn on my stove or oven or grill when its 100 degree plus outside, do you?
So, what do I do but pull out the the handy dandy wonderful tool that we are all using these days called Pinterest and look for new, exciting, different, taste bud perking crockpot recipes.
See my CrockPottin' board here!
I ran across one, that who knows why I pinned it.
There wasn't even a name for it. I'll give the original a name.
 Crockpot Corn Macaroni & Cheese.

I can't stand Mac&Cheese.
Just ask my bestie. She gets to eat mine when we have it at school. I eat her broccoli.
Seriously.

So tonight what do I do since I am out of every grocery in the house including the ingredients called for in this recipe. Make it and make my own recipe up.
Guess what. I finally met a Mac&Cheese I LOVE!

See how Yummo it looks!?!

Wait, wait. Are you ready for this? I'm gonna give you my very own Pinterest Perfected recipe- ha ha, I made that up, catchy though. Now don't be making fun of my food photography. I am not The Pioneer Woman. Geesh, she is good.

Moma Crow's Crockpot Corn Mac & Cheese
1 can cream style corn, 1 can whole kernel corn 2 cups Rotini, 3/4 jar of queso (I used medium, its all I had), 1/2 c water and 1 stick of butter. Spray your crockpot with cooking spray and add all ingredients. Do not drain cans. Pasta needs all liquid. Cook on high until pasta is tender. I started mine about 3:45 and it was done by 5!
(yeah, I know not exactly calorie conscious, but I only ate about 1/2 C!)

To be honest, I am not sure the original pin would have turned out. Not enough pasta for the recipe. It only called for one cup of elbow macaroni and no water. It also wanted velveeta and light margarine. So as you can see I made lots of variations.

We have a little saying around the nest when I make a new recipe if  its approved and...
"It's a make again!!!"

Father's Day 2012 at The Nest

Daddy Crow and his babies!

Kaybrie's info sheet on her Daddy this year.
Outside of the card we had made for him. I told him it contained three of his favorite things.
Braden's feet, Kaybrie's feet and his lawn.
We also had an 8x10 of this print made for him.

The inside of his card.

Braden's info sheet on his Daddy.

Kaybrie made this at church for him. Love it!

Kaybrie was quite into Father's Day this year...she only told him "Happy Father's Day" a gazillion times, she made the above info sheet at school!

Madagascar 3 Circus Circle Party! #Madagascar3

To celebrate the release of Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted in theaters on June 8th, I was chosen by DreamWorks Animation and Crowdtap to host a circus party for the release of the movie.  They sent me the following in a digital package FREE to make me the hostest with the mostest!

  • A crack-a-lackin recipe for Marty's zebra cake
  • A classic game with a "mad" twist featuring Gloria
  • Decorations, masks and face paint ideas to get everyone into the Madagascar mood
  • Fun activities and games to keep the party movin'
For our party we decided to make it a Mad 2 Movie Party! We served popcorn, peanuts, nachos, cheezits, cokes, bottled water and of course Marty's Zebra Cake! The kiddos had lots of fun coloring the activity sheets and making the masks and of course I had the camera handy to capture the "ZOOSTERS" in action!
We've heard how great Madagascar 3 is and can't wait to watch it ourselves. Thank you DreamWorks and Crowdtap for this opportunity!

Marty's Zebra Cake Recipe

Eggs – 4
Sugar – 1C
Milk – 1C
Oil – 1C
Vanilla Powder ???- 1/3 t, I used vanilla extract
All Purpose Flour – 2C
Baking Powder- 1T
Cocoa– 2T

Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs and sugar until creamy and light in color.
Add milk and oil, and continue beating until well blended.
Add vanilla extract to the mixture. Gradually add flour and then beat until the batter is smooth.
Divide the mixture into 2 equal portions. Keep one portion plain. Add cocoa powder into another and mix well. Preheat the oven to 350 F.  Lightly grease the baking tray with oil.

The most important part is assembling the cake batter in a baking pan. Scoop 3 heaped tablespoons of plain batter into the middle of the baking pan. Then scoop 3 tablespoons of cocoa batter and pour it in the center on top of the plain batter. If you're careful you should find concentric circles of alternating colors forming in the tray. Repeat until all the mixture is used.

Bake in the oven for about 40 minutes. I don't think I need to tell anyone how to check and see if a cake is done. Use a toothpick. Then decorate it how you want when cool and eat.  (Now, I am not going to lie to you, my baking powder was OLD, so this will be a remake at my nest. Don't you hate when that happens? This is just a simple marble cake recipe for crying out loud!)

It's Melman and Gloria...or is it?

Very pleased with her creations!

Marty wears glasses?

Ha Ha..silly Zoosters!
(not the best picture, but...honestly how often do you catch a lion, giraffe, hippo and zebra all together?)

Woolite® Extra Dark Care: Finally a Saving Grace for Denim

Wooliteer's use Woolite® because they love their wardrobe and don't want to torture it. I was given the chance by Crowdtap to host an exclusive Woolite® Extra Dark Care event and vie to become America's Next Top Wooliteer. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase my love of fashion and spread the word about how Woolite® can keep denim and dark clothes looking like new for longer.

My party ended up being a little different from the prescribed norm. I held it throughout the day and talked up the product and showcased it over a six hour period. I thought outside the box for people who don't always get the opportunity to try new products, who NEED new products! My co-workers at the pre-school. We typically wear dark clothes, jeans and t-shirts for the most part and unfortunately these items get ruined easily with the stains and frequent washes they go through.

A few of my friends/co-workers posing with their sample and the Woolite® jean bag! Aren't they cute and such good sports?

I can't believe how terrible my wardrobe looks after only a year and a half a the preschool! YUCK! The sad thing is, I am not one to go and buy jeans very often, I'm a hard fit. They have to be long enough in length and high enough in the waist or I will not wear them! Oh, and fashionable. I do have a few pair of jeans that I refuse to wear to work, my holey ones. The babies, just rip the holes worse than before.

When my daughter saw these pictures, she wanted to pose with the Woolite® bag also, so we had some more fun modeling, she in her jean shorts and me in my jeans. Why not? It's not every day I get to hold up a 10.9 sign!

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island Widget

Okay, I admit it and the widget below proves it, I am a TIMID TREKKER. With my sense of adventure, you will definitely need to call in a rescue team!!! Yes, Yes, my definition of an outdoor adventure is a long day of tanning on the beach. I will need some serious training in smoke signals, and fire starting before starting my "journey" on The Mysterious Island. What Mysterious Island am I referring to?

Warner Bros. released Journey 2: The Mysterious Island on DVD and Blu-Ray yesterday, June 5th 2012.

"Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson, The Hunger Games) finds a hidden signal that he believes will lead him to his long lost grandfather (Michael Caine, Miss Congeniality). With the help of his new step father (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, The Scorpion King), Sean finds a map and starts his adventure which leads him to Kailani (Vanessa Hudgens, High School Musical) and the island of Atlantis! Sean and his friends battle giant bees, killer lizards, a volcano of gold, and electric eels to escape the lost city and make their way home!"

Killer lizards, electric eels and giant bees...eeeek! See, I told you I would rather lie on a beach and get a tan!
Take a look at this fun widget and see if you would survive. Would you?

Today's Post...

...is at The RHOK!

Today I am writing as Mrs. Hart at The RHOK. This picture was captured by my aunt and cousin over the weekend of Kaybrie and myself. When I saw it the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" came to mind. So I am letting my readers at The RHOK be RHOK Stars for Today and caption the photo!
Won't you go and write along?
