Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the most wonderful man in the world. The man we like to call Dad, Daddy, Honey, Babe & Jason....

We Love You!!!

Of course this is not an original idea of mine, I just love being a Real Housewife of the Internet and using my favorite tool in the world of Pinterest for gift inspiration. Of course I always add my own twist, so I guess my originality does come in somewhere. We made a collage at Walgreens (FREE) and a card. Also, let me tell you a little secret. Braden does not own a plain white t-shirt. The one he has on in the photo has a flag on it. PicMonkey is my favorite picture editing tool ever. Yep I drew that flag right out of that shirt.

Today's Post...

...is at The RHOK!

Did you know there are deadly pins on Pinterest?
Well, there are. Just like there are Pinterest failed recipes, there are pins that can KILL you. Last Thursday night, Jason wasn't following a pin, but during further research I found exactly what he did mix on Pinterest.
Head over to The RHOK today to read more on this story!

Today's Post...

...is at The RHOK.

Nana is visiting! Yay!
We ALL went to Tar-Jay on Saturday. Emphasis on the all.
Daddy Crow had a rare Saturday off.
Here is a sneak peek at a video I found on my iPhone of our shopping excursion. You will have to go read me at The RHOK to read more on why I will be vacationing shopping at Tar-Jay by myself for now on!

Father's Day 2012 at The Nest

Daddy Crow and his babies!

Kaybrie's info sheet on her Daddy this year.
Outside of the card we had made for him. I told him it contained three of his favorite things.
Braden's feet, Kaybrie's feet and his lawn.
We also had an 8x10 of this print made for him.

The inside of his card.

Braden's info sheet on his Daddy.

Kaybrie made this at church for him. Love it!

Kaybrie was quite into Father's Day this year...she only told him "Happy Father's Day" a gazillion times, she made the above info sheet at school!

Father's Day 2011

Happy Father's Day to all the men out there that have influenced a child's life whether it be by birth or as a mentor! The positive role a MAN makes in a child's life really does matter! Thank you Jason Crow for making a difference in our children's life each day- I love you!

Jason, Braden & Kaybrie- their annual photo, for some reason posing just doesn't cut it anymore!
The kid's didn't pick out cards this year, instead I had them fill out these cute little questionnaire's...
Daddy Crow really enjoyed their answers!

I just had to share this little guy- no he's not a CROW! But he paid a visit anyway at Grandma Crow's House. Isn't he a beauty. But we aren't gonna feed him, there anyway. That fence is poolside.

The Great Snowmageddon

January 2011 went out with a blast and we met February 2011 with nothing but WHITE!
13" inches of snow at our house! Schools across Oklahoma were cancelled before the clouds even had a chance to drop any onto the ground, that is how sure the forecasters were of this Winter Blast!
People are calling it a Snowmageddon 2011, LOL!
Might be, the car lots even shut down- Daddy Crow was called and told to stay home, guess the parts selling will have to wait until after the storm ;-)!

Jason trying to clear the garage so we can maybe get our cars out- no luck!

Part drift, part what he did manage to get shoveled and swept of the drive.

The shovel...
...yep, just a little over 13 inches- Yikes!

MckLinky Monday: Thankful for Food

The RHOK

What? Me? Thankful for food...not a bit, you can't tell by looking at me, and sorry folks you WILL not be telling by looking at my plate this Thanksgiving holiday. Yes, I am just a wee bit on a dieting trend and I'm going to be a braggart- doing very well at 15lbs lost since Labor Day! Yes, I will eat, but only one plate and ONLY the foods that I absolutely MUST have. Turkey breast, cornbread dressing with a little giblet gravy, green beans, a roll and a salad! I will also make my famous Crow Bars-my family can't live without these! Now there is a story behind these. Don't I always have a story? Six years ago when Jason finally got brave enough to call and ask me out, I was busy making these for my staff at the bank, I of course had to change the name from K-Bars to Crow Bars once we married and he got a great many sampling of them! Whoever said the way to a man's heart was through his stomach must have known what they were talking about, because believe me, I am thankful for so many great and wonderful meals I have shared with my husband these past six years, and look forward to many, many more years of meals!

Crow Bars

1T butter
1/2 C white sugar
1/2 c white syrup
3/4 c peanut butter
3 c crushed cornflakes
1pkg milk chocolate chips
1pkg butterscotch chips

Bring butter, sugar and syrup to boil. Add peanut butter and cornflakes, mix well. Press into 8 1/2 x 11 pan. In double boiler melt chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. When melted pour over cereal mixture. Let cool. Do not Bake! Cut into squares. Can be doubled, but I do not double the chocolate chip mixture, it is too rich! Use a big cookie sheet if you double!

Now it's your turn to share what food you are thankful for and link up at The RHOK, thank you Mrs. Priss for hosting and having everyone share their great recipes today!

WW: The Crow Wagging Tongue !?!?

Football practice started this week in Oklahoma and of course with it came the very HOT temperatures! I heard one person say 111*, but I only saw 106* in my car!  Our 4th grade team looks good so far, of course we are only two days into practice!
I caught the above picture in Tuesday nights practice, I just thought it was a cute Daddy/Son
Coach Crow/ Player moment but realized once I got home that it was a little more of a family trait moment that I hadn't noticed of my husband before. You see I've noticed that Kaybrie sticks her tongue out when she is focused on something and my MIL told me that her other son Marc does this as well. So now it is caught on digital camera: The Crow's have a Wagging Tongue!

MckLinky Monday: Oh yeah, it Happened

The RHOK
Today's question at The RHOK is brought to us by a newly inspired Mrs. McGillicutty aka Kelly at Kellyology!

Think about the day you met your spouse. Since then and due to their influence, what is the one thing that has changed about you that you never expected to happen?

Anyone that knows me well know that I come from an extremely athletic family. My Moma was an All-State basketball player and loved the game so much that when she became pregnant with me in January of her senior year of high school, she continued to dribble, shoot and bounce me along with her game. All three of us children grew up in playpens along the first or third base lines of a softball field while Moma played co-ed softball during the Summers. When I was four years old I was finally given my own ball glove and played Summer League up until I was 15 years old. Not sure why it ended there, guess the leagues just did. About that time we finally got a High School Fast Pitch team. I had also played basketball since 5th grade. I decided my Sophomore year to focus on my career and to get out of Dodge- I mean Wilson, so I opted to put all ball on the back burner. I still went to all the football and basketball games, but I worked in the concession stands, I told you I was preparing for my future career, no not food service, BANKING- but yes the food service has paid off now that I am a housewife.

Then I went of to college, intramural leagues were very popular. I quickly joined a co-ed softball league, my first experience playing with the opposite sex. I loved it and I was good at it, except for running. I couldn't unhook my plow, LOL!  My brother began his high school football career about this time, sadly I didn't develop a love for the game. Not sure if it was because I rarely made it to any of the games or if I just did not understand. Probably both. Then I married husband #1, a sports fanatic, and well he was just a fanatic so resentment for anything he liked was just natural.

WooPigSooie!!

When I met Jason, sports became different. A big change in our lives was we were Sooner fans, but what did that really mean to us?  I had a three year old son who had a football and a jersey and I was trying to instill the influence of the game in him through those things and a few men I dated and maybe my brother who lived three hours away. I now was marrying a Razorback fan? A what? Yeah well, we were divided for a minute, long enough to buy the car tag. We did agree on America's Team, the Dallas Cowboy's, that much I did know.  Football became a fun thing around our house. Jason actually answered my questions. Laughed with me when I asked a stupid question. Most importantly shared with Braden and me the game. I now go to college games, I can call the Hogs like its nobody's business, and I am now a proud football mom of the cutest little boy in the world. My Moma is always making comments about how I talk about games and am tuned into certain scores.  Oh yeah it happened, and it happened big! All because of my dear husband's influence in bringing back my natural love for sports. The one thing he has taught me though, it's not about just who you are a fan of, but it is a love for the game!

Love my Future Tiger!!!

MckLinky Monday: How Daddy & Moma Crow Met!

The RHOK

It's MckLinky Monday again, and boy are we Housewives a NOSEY, get in your Business Bunch!  I really like it though, because not only does it help me reminiscence and get those butterflies in my tummy again, it also makes me get it down for the sole purpose of my blog: for my kids and grandkids! This week's question is brought by the lovely Mrs. Albright aka Dawn at Dawn's Diversions who I have known and been reading the longest of all the Housewives.

How Did You Meet Your Spouse?

October 27th, 2004 I turned Thirty.  I had just gone through a divorce and it was finalized in January of that year. That marriage, if you can call it that, lasted seven years.  I was a single Mom of a wonderful three year old little boy. Because of my little boy and my upbringing and church, I knew I had to find a new church for us and get involved. That January we began attending The Church at BattleCreek. From January to October, I dated a little, one guy in particular- which was totally Mr.WRONG from the beginning, but can you say REBOUND.  In September, I started a DivorceCare class at Church and Braden got involved with some kids at church as well.
So the Big 3-0 rolled around, even though I was saying Thirty, Flirty and Thriving, I wasn't exactly feeling it!  I mean come on! Single Working Mom's know where all the cheap eat night's are at McDonald's, Burger King and Mazzios and we are in bed by 9 o'clock, unless an episode of Sex and the City is on TBS that you haven't seen! Because believe me, secretly you live your life through Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda- who wouldn't?

Did I mention that I spent the Big 3-0 at Incredible Pizza with my son, yeah I skipped my DivorceCare Class to hang out and play skiiball! Well, the following week, exactly a week on November 3, 2004, I had half a mind to skip class again. I didn't.  Gayla my friend in the class invited her cousin, don't remember much about him other than when asked why I missed and spent my birthday alone, I then went off on my depression and made the comment that I was going to turn into a hamburger, this guy was asked if I looked like a hamburger and he turned red and said "You look very nice to me!"  I think he was at church the following Sunday and I caught him checking out my legs! Then on Monday the 8th, I got a call from Gayla asking for permission to give my phone number out to her cousin Jason who came to class- he thought I was pretty! I said I guess, he would never call.

He didn't call, that is until the 22nd of November! He was scared. SCARED? Of what? Rejection. Oh how sweet is that!  Jason had me at HELLO and after 3 1/2 hours on the phone. LOL! Our first date was the Friday after Thanksgiving on November 26, 2004.  We went to Don Pablo's and then saw Christmas with The Crank's. I tried to meet him there after work, but he was having none of that!  He picked me up, opened the door and didn't even try to kiss me, I had to hug him! Such a gentleman. But he did ask me out again, and did call all weekend! Bonus that, on Sunday was Braden's Baby Dedication his entire family was there and I met his Mother and our Mother's met! Wowee...Talk about sweating in Church!

Did I mention that it is illegal to date in DivorceCare? I finished the class, he never came back! We still attend and love TCABC!

Anyway we were Engaged in February of 2005 and Married in May of 2005 and have now been married Five Years!!!

MckLinky Monday: The Proposal

The RHOK

This week at The RHOK the question is How Did He Propose?

For the Crow Love Bird's, it was Superbowl 39 (don't ask me to figure out the Roman Numerals),
February 5, 2005! I worked that particular Saturday. Jason, Braden, who was only four years old at the time, and my MIL went to Star Jewelers in downtown Broken Arrow to pick out the ring. What an awesome, thoughtful man to include his future son in not only such a huge purchase decision but a life decision. After work, my normal routine was to buy groceries at Wal-Mart. The guys met me, don't you know how hard it was for them to keep a secret?  Five years ago, this past SuperBowl weekend my wonderful husband hid an engagement ring in the grocery bags that I brought home from Wal-Mart, he waited patiently while I put them away, and then when I found the box, he dropped to his knee and became the happiest man ever when he made me the happiest woman ever! I love SuperBowl weekends! And yes, I always check for hidden treasure in everything!!

MckLinky Monday: Lessons Learned in Marriage

The RHOK

Today at The RHOK its tell
What funny or not lessons did you learn during your first year of marriage?
Hmm, can I say that I am approaching my fifth year of marriage May 19th and am still learning by the day?
Here is my top 10 list, Jason approved of course:

  1. He is not my Ex-Husband, the things my ex did, Jason does not do and I should not ever expect that behavior, there is a reason an ex is an ex. Jason simply is not that proud!

  2. I knew he had the big brown recliner when we met, it was his and obviously if it already had an imprint of his rear in it, that should have been a big clue!

  3. He likes his cereal or should I say box of cereal and could care less if I cook for him or not, he does not expect a me to cook for him, my feelings should not be hurt.

  4. Some women would love a man to clean the house, so what if he is doing my job!

  5. The only thing he does not like me to do in the evenings is laundry, why?

  6. I have learned not to throw away holey underwear and socks- they are the most comfortable.

  7. Lately, a discussion is better documented in text, because I carry on conversation with too many people and fail to tell my spouse- OUCH! We are becoming busy parents.

  8. Why can't I mow the grass? I'm really not complaining.

  9. If toilets or another major operating fixture is fixed, it better be blogged, facebooked and tweeted about!

  10. He is the most wonderful Husband and Father in the World. He loves us all Unconditionally. He may not have been there when Braden was born, but he has stepped in, formed a bond and deservingly holds the honor of being called Daddy by both of  his children!

It's a Floppy Spring Around the Crow's Nest!

I finally got my Spring pedicure yesterday! I think Jason was very happy. Best $23 I've spent on myself all year long, if I do say so myself, what do you think? Definitely blog/brag worthy! And of course I am getting to wear my Flip Flops finally after that ankle injury last summer! Yay!!!

Check out the new design of FlipFlops I made the other night as a fundraiser for Braden's Football team BA Black- I call this Girlalicious and of course Kaybrie Jayne gets the trial pair. This pair is $10, call me or Facebook me to order. I can do almost anything.

This post is titled Floppy for a reason...not only do we have flip flops this spring, but we also have three wild floppy bunny rabbits running around between our house and the neighbors and they aren't scared! This is the second year they have come back. Miss Dusty, our neighbor makes sure they have fresh carrots to eat and of course they love to nibble on the clover and dandelions in the yards. Aren't they the sweetest? Hope everyone is having a great Spring, minus the allergies of course.

For the Times You Just Wish You Had a Hidden Camera

Like most thirty something women, I am a Twilight fanatic! I have read all four books, and cannot wait for the movies to come out in theater. When the first movie came out, Jason was very interested in going with me! When the second movie New Moon came out, he wanted to go, but was so ecstatic willing to let his beautiful wife have a GNO with Stacye! So, as soon as New Moon hit the shelves last weekend, being the fantastic beautiful wife I am, braved the Spring snowstorm on Saturday and purchased the blu-ray version for my DH's viewing pleasure! I am now under the complete opinion that unless you have read the books you must not watch the movies. And I declare another GNO right now for June 30th, to go see Eclipse!
Now here is where I wish I had the hidden camera! I would so submit it to SNL!

Jason's impression of the movie went something like this: Oh Bella I had plenty of time to do laundry in Twilight (shirt on), but now in New Moon there is no laundry soap (shirt off)-He just doesn't get it, but declares Team Edward all the way, LOL!

And, for the record, what thirty-something woman wouldn't become somewhat of a cougar after seeing Jacob/Taylor Lautner, that beautiful male species take his shirt off- oops, did I say that? BTW did you see the Ken doll version, they never made Ken look that good when I was a little girl? And no I did not buy it!
But, I am still a SUCKER, get it, for a good love story, so long live Edward and Bella....

My 1st Rock Concert and We Rocked It!

I'm an 80's child, and with graduating from H.S. in 1992, I did sneak in my share of Def Leppard, Poison and Bon Jovi- and I mean I SNUCK and LISTENED! I don't think my parents ever knew what I listened to with my friends while we drug main and during sleepovers. I was not a wild child by far, I believed up until, hmmm maybe the year I married Jason that my Daddy had spies everywhere, and I'm even a college graduate with ten years of banking behind me and two kiddos.

My DH, Jason, also shares my love for these groups........he graduated in 1989! So, when we found out that Def Leppard, Poison, & Cheap Trick were coming to the BOK Center in Tulsa, I jumped all over those tickets with the hopes of jumping all over Bret Michaels, LOL! We went with Jason's best friend from high school, Tom and his wife Angie. Tom and Jason have somehow remained best friends after 20 years, God only knows how! It has to be God, because Angie has become my best friend as well!

Me & Angie- both 1992 graduates, aren't we hot momma's!
Warning to our Husbands: Keep very tight leashes on us!

Bootylicious Babe!
How could I not put this shot in? Those are designer jeans w/ studs on them! Fitting for such a STUD!

We had a Rockin' great time! I don't think I have ever sang, danced and moved so much in my life! My ribs and rear actually hurt the next day! My 1st Rock Concert was one I will never forget!
