Bible Journaling Kit #BibleJournalingKit #FlyBy #Giveaway

Do you Bible journal? I didn't until today. I actually was given an opportunity to start for free with a Bible Journaling Kit by Ellie Claire. For the past year, I have been pinning and pining away at all of the beautiful and creative Bible journal and journalers out there. I had almost decided that I just don't spend enough time in my Bible and that God is never going to bless me with the artistic ability to get that artistic in His word- yeah, I've had this kit for a few weeks and have been procrastinating at using it. Guess what was revealed to me today? It doesn't matter. It's my Bible. It's what HE says to me. It's what I write down. It's what I will look back on and my kids will look back on and see that I read and wrote.

For the past month in or children's ministry our verse has been Romans 12:10- Honor. Then in the past week, I have been reading the Karen Kingsbury Redemption series- don't ask me why I have never read this series. It is a MUST READ!  Anyway, God has started speaking some Romans into my life lately. Y'all didn't know you were going to get an entire Bible lesson and confession from me today, did you?

Alright, alright, back to the journaling kit...

About the Product
You can create a work of art on the pages of your favorite Bible. Draw, color, or journal your thoughts, dreams, and prayers. Highlight your favorite verses or the encouragements that speak to your heart with pencils, stickers, and tabs. Kit includes:
·         4 sheets of word stickers
·         4 sheets of alphabet stickers
·         24 tab stickers
·         8 colored pencil twists
·         1 journaling pen
·         1 pouch with adjustable strap to fit Bibles of all sizes
·         1 ruled page protector mat with tracing lines

My Bible is not a "journaling Bible" it does not have extra space in the margins, and that is okay for this kit. Mine is a Women's Study Bible and contains some extra explanations at the bottom, that is where I will put my illustrations and notes. The colored pencils are really nice and I feel confident that they will not rip my pages. They also erased easily. I also like how I can color over my words and still see them.

One of my blessed readers is going to get their very own Bible Journaling Kit! Who wants it? All you have to do is enter on the easy Rafflecopter form below. Only one question is mandatory. I want to know: What Bible verse will you journal first?

**Bonus: Enter on my blog, but also enter here! As part of this promotion, they are going to be hosting their own giveaway and are going to be giving away 5 different kits. Enter at this link: http://bit.ly/BibleJournalingKitGiveaway (The link also offers free downloads of several coloring pages).

NIV Bible for Teen Girls: Growing In Faith.Hope.Love Review & Giveaway #NIVBibleforTeenGirls #FLYBY

I was once a teenage girl. Shocking, right? Ages 13-18, were TOUGH for me. Relationships between my parents, classmates, and siblings were not easy. Throw in the mix of hormones, boys, and decisions for my future and I was an all out hurricane. No one really knew this. I kept it together, kept it inside.  I didn't focus on my present, but rather than my future during those five years. It is something I regret to this day. I grew up way before I should have. Yes, God had me, but I didn't have His perfect assurance in my life to give it all to Him.

"The great people at Zondervan have designed a Bible for real teen girls with real lives. Today's teen girl needs reassurance that no issue is too big for God.  The NIV Bible for Teen Girls, designed specifically for girls ages 13 to 18, will do just that.  This Bible is packed with daily readings, highlighted promises of God, challenging insights, smart advice, and open discussions about the realities of life.  This Bible is designed to help teen girls grow in faith, hope, and love.  It is as sincere about a teen girl's walk with God as they are, helping them discover his will for all areas of their life, including relating to their family, dealing with friends, work, sports, guys, and so much more."

I will have a teen daughter in a few short years and given the track God is calling me on so far moving up and working with my daughter's age group in the children's ministry, I see that I am being prepared for teen ministry very very soon . I was excited to review the NIV Bible for Teen Girls and to get a look at what is ahead and how such a Bible will help these girls that I am so vested in grow in faith, hope, and love.

Take a look at how Roman 6:23 NIV is highlighted. The key verses that any teen girl needs to read/share are highlighted. On the opposite page you can see the daily reading. I love how the daily reading just lays it out and talks to you like a friend. Why not? Isn't Jesus our friend? This is how our relationship with Christ should be and getting into the word as a teen. WOW!

One of readers is going to get their very own copy of this Bible. My only requirement is to tell me who the teen will be that you will gift the Bible to. Extra entries are available, but not required.

Susie's Hope DVD Review & Giveaway

Imagine a love for animals. Imagine being attacked by an animal who just wanted love. Imagine continuing to love and fight for those same animals after that attack. This is exactly the story of pit bull attack survivor Donna Lawrence and Susie, a pit bull-mix puppy found beaten, burned and left for dead. A story of healing, a story of survival, a story of HOPE for all dogs in the same situation.

Take a look at the following trailer.

About the movie:
Based on the true story that successfully passed Susie’s Law in North Carolina, which seeks stricter punishment for animal abusers, Susie’s Hope brings to life the inspirational relationship between pit bull attack survivor Donna Lawrence and Susie, a pit bull-mix puppy found beaten, burned and left for dead. Recognizing reflect and abuse were to blame for the tragic attack that nearly claimed her life 10 months earlier, Donna resumes the battered animal and accepts her as family. Together, they learn to heal, love and forgive as they lead a historic effort to seek justice and protection, not only for Susie, but all animals. Starring Emmanuelle Vaguer (40 Days and 40 Nights), Burgess Jenkins (Remember The Titans) and Andrea Powell (Ender’s Game, The Twilight: Breaking Dawn Saga: Part 2), Susie’s Hope is an incredible story of love, loss and redemption.

About Susie:
Susie was found nearly dead in Greenfield Park in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 20, 2009. Just a puppy, Susie had licked the face of her owner’s newborn baby. Her owner became violent—she was beaten so severely her jaw was broken. That wasn’t enough, though. She was then set on fire and left for dead. Incredibly and against all odds Susie survived. Donna Lawrence adopted her two months later. Susie is now a trained therapy dog and event won the American Humane Association’s American Hero Dog this year!

One of my readers is going to receive their very own copy of this DVD. This story is so, so powerful and emotional. It makes you want to join the cause for animal rights immediately. If you don't want to wait to win, I found that it is available on Amazon Prime.

This movie is Dove Family Approved for ages 12+
Run-time is 105 minutes

Small Talk Book Review & Giveaway

“Sometimes God uses the smallest voices to teach the greatest truths…”

Watch this book trailer:

WOW!

I can personally attest to the above statement. I am in my third year of serving in our church's elementary ministry. I have moved up with my daughter every year since she was in Kindergarten. I love this group of kids. This year I finally found my sweet spot as a Station Leader. After our entire groups worship time, I get the opportunity to come back and recap the lesson. One particular lesson was on words and how they hurt. I asked the 50+ kids for hurtful words. One boy, in church shouted out B***H. Yes, that is a very very hurtful word. I had to not say anything and just continue on with my lesson. Afterward, I spoke with his grandmother. This boy, sweet little 2nd grade boy, had just been taken away from his mother. His life had been in turmoil. He didn't need reprimand from me. He needed LOVE. Does God reprimand me when I let a bad word slip? Nope. He loves me. Thank you Lord for using that small voice to teach me that truth.

"Every day, one of Amy Julia Becker’s children says something that prompts her to think about life in a new way. “Mom, does Santa love me?” William asks, after his mother explains the meaning of Christmas…In a chat with her dad about the children who died in the Sandy Hook shootings, Penny asks, “Did they go to heaven?” …”You was a jerk, Mommy?” asks Marilee one morning in the car.
These conversations deepen Amy Julia’s relationships with her children, but they also refine her understanding of what she believes and what God is doing in her own life.

In Small Talk, Amy Julia draws from the wisdom and curiosity of those young voices to reflect on beauty and kindness, tragedy and disability, prayer and miracles. As she moves through the basic questions her kids posed when they were very young to the more intellectual questions of later childhood, she invites us to learn from our own day-to-day conversations with the children in our lives.

This eloquent parenting memoir is about the big questions little hearts ask, the thoughts their words provoke, and the laughter and soul-searching their honesty brings—to adult and child alike.

One of my favorite stories in the book is one of when Amy was babysitting and her reflection upon Psalm 23 when David says "He MAKES me lay down..." Note my dots. Just like Amy says God doesn't stop with us there. He leads me, He restores me, and He guides me. But before any of that happens I have to rest and let God be God. Wow, again.

Amy Julia Becker writes about faith, family, and disability for Parents.com, the New York Times Motherlode blog, TheAtlantic.com, The Huffington Post parents page, Christianity Today, The Christian century, and numerous other publications. Her first book, A Good and Perfect Gift: Faith, Expectations, and a Little Girl Named Penny, was named one of the Top Ten Religion Books of 2011 by Publishers Weekly. Amy Julia lives in western Connecticut with her husband and three children.

Manic Drive CD Review & #Giveaway

There is nothing like a loooooong road trip over Fall Break to finally be able to get some good music bonding done! A full tank of gas, cruise control, and a paved road just calls for good tunes don't you agree? That is exactly what the kids and I did last week. One of the the CD's I threw in the travel bag was the just released album by Manic Drive- VIP. Our favorite Christian radio station loses its signal after the last hill before the toll booth on the way to Oklahoma City, I just hate when I am singing and praising and all of a sudden the beat and words fizzle out. This surely doesn't just happen to me. Does it? Anyway, the kids and I really got to jamming along with this Christian boy band. I honestly had never heard of them, but their music is fun, catchy, and I even let the kids turn up the volume a little too loud!

This is definitely an album that I want on my kids iPods. My favorite song on the album is "I Hide You Seek."

Check out this video out of their title track, VIP.

ABOUT THE BAND:
Manic Drive has been widely known as a Canadian band who always delivers a great show, but over the past few years and project releases, they have added to their extensive touring of Canadian and US markets multiple Billboard Top 10 & 20 singles on CHR & Christian Rock Radio. Manic Drive is clearly very intentional about reaching their generation and inspiring them to pursue a deeper walk with Christ and to get involved in changing the world they are inheriting. And they are uniquely equipped to do so. The band members, all in their early-mid twenties, have made sacrifices to pursue God’s call on their lives. Their life experience, spiritual maturity and ministry have opened doors to speak into the lives of their own generation and that is perhaps the most defining characteristic of this group of guys.

Be sure to check Manic Drive out on all their sites. This is definitely a band to follow!!

#DolphinTale2 in Theaters September 12 with a Giveaway! #WinterHasHope

We are SO EXCITED for next weekend! In case you haven't heard Winter the famous dolphin is returning to the big screen!! We have kind of missed our family movie theater time since the summer program ended and have already planned a family date night. Do you have such a tradition in your household? One of these days we plan to visit Winter at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Clearwater, Florida. Several of our friends have been and I even have a reporter friend with WTSP 10 in Tampa who visits him often.

About the movie:
Inspired by true events, Dolphin Tale 2 continues the story of the brave dolphin Winter, whose miraculous rescue and recovery—thanks to a groundbreaking prosthetic tail—made her a symbol of hope and perseverance to people around the world and inspired the 2011 family hit movie “Dolphin Tale.” This film reunites the entire main cast, led by Harry Connick Jr., Oscar winner Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, and of course, the remarkable dolphin Winter as herself. Champion surfer Bethany Hamilton, who has been an example of courage, also appears in the film.

It has been several years since young Sawyer Nelson and the dedicated team at the Clearwater Marine Hospital, headed by Dr. Clay Haskett, rescued Winter. With the help of Dr. Cameron McCarthy, who developed a unique prosthetic tail for the injured dolphin, they were able to save her life. Yet their fight is not over. Winter’s surrogate mother, the very elderly dolphin Panama, has passed away, leaving Winter without the only pool mate she has ever known. However, the loss of Panama may have greater repercussions for Winter, who, according to USDA regulations, cannot be housed alone, as dolphins’ social behavior requires them to be paired with other dolphins. Time is running out to find a companion for her before the team at Clearwater loses their beloved Winter to another aquarium.

Got Glasses? I Do. From Firmoo.com, Review & Giveaway: 5 Winners

Many, many things are changing as I approach the big 4-0, including my eyesight. I am ashamed to admit it, but my current glasses are 11 years old. See below. A little outdated. We went as a family last October to get our eyes checked and ALL of us were sent home with a new prescription. This meant four new pair of glasses and also contacts for my teen. We took care of everyone but yours truly. I was in denial. And the pocketbook was protesting big time.

11 year old glasses. Wire frames. Wore for driving, reading, computer work.
I was contacted on July 24, 2014 (this timeline is very important), by Firmoo to review their glasses, service, and website. In exchange they would send me a pair of high quality and fashionable glasses or sunglasses "Firmoo.com is the world's most popular online eyeglasses store. Years of expertise in optical industry enable Firmoo.com to offer varieties of prescription eye wear to the consuming public in high quality yet at extremely affordable prices."

Remember above when I said someone was left out of getting her new glasses? Well, what did I have to lose? I went to their website, was able to log on with my Facebook account. Then I began to browse. I had never ordered glasses online before. Frankly, I don't even have a clue what anything on my glasses prescription means. The site walks you through. Easy. You can upload a picture of yourself (it's really supposed to be straight) and you can use their "try-on view".

Here is mine:

On July 25, I placed my order for #CP6082. It wasn't hard to order. I did have to take my prescription to my eye doctor to get my PD (pupillary distance). I didn't want any mistakes on my own measurements. My glasses were ordered with the standard 1.5 index and anti-scratch. The company was supposed to upgrade the glasses per blog arrangement to 1.57, anti-radiation, and UV filters. I honestly don't know if this was done or not. It wasn't reflected in the invoice. My glasses arrived via mail on August 4, 2014. The package was sent internationally and was a little beat up. The glasses inside the hard case were perfect. My husband and kids absolutely love my selection.

What do you think?

This experience was way easier than I imagined. I was leery at first. So far, I am very satisfied.

Firmoo offers a First Pair Free Program. This program provides free glasses for new customers to try their products & service. Their free offer is open to almost all countries in the world, such as U.S., Canada, Australia, etc. Every new customer qualifies for free glasses.

In addition FIVE of my readers are going to receive a $30 voucher towards Firmoo's Classic Series Glasses, shipping is excluded. How fun is that? All you have to do is visit the site and tell me which frames you would choose.

Enough: 10 Things We Should Be Telling Teenage Girls Book Giveaway

I think know it is so very cool when a fellow blogger becomes a published author. In 2012, I actually did read the blog post by Kate Conner- Ten Things I Want to Tell Teenage Girls, a post that received over 2 million hits in two weeks. A post that has now resulted in a book. A book that tells teenage girls that:

You are beautiful. You are valuable. You are enough.

I don't even have a teenage daughter yet, but I do have a teenage niece and my son does like teenage girls. Two years ago when God called me in to work with HIS children in HIS church, I began to see what an influence I can/do have in the lives of HIS children. Kate identified in this book 10 things that these girls need to hear today from someone who loves her. This book is so easy to read. Kate is funny, relational, and honestly I had many been there done that moments throughout the book. Shocking. I know.

I texted the following pictures of the book to my cousin and BFF:

I absolutely LOVE this passage. We can't shelter our daughters/teens from everything. Teach them with "a filter". The Aristotle quote will adorn my cousin's high school English classroom this Fall.

Kate is a former youth-worker, wife to a college minister, and a young mom in her twenties, Conner stands squarely in generational gap, the perfect place from which to bridge it. Conner offers herself as a translator, helping you to speak your teenager’s language and equipping you with a fresh perspective from which to engage your teenage girl—one that may enable her to truly hear your heart (and your wisdom) for the first time since puberty.

One of my readers is going to get their very own copy of this book. All you have to do is tell me you in the easy Rafflecopter entry form who you will share the wisdom of this book with. Bonus entries are available.

The Love Dare For Parents Book Giveaway

Do you remember the movie Fireproof? The one in which Kirk Cameron was a fireman and fought to save his marriage? The movie was based on the international best-selling marriage book The Love Dare by authors Stephen and Alex Kendrick.

The Kendrick brothers have teamed up again to bring The Love Dare for Parents.

The Love Dare for Parents, a 40-day journey of “dares” challenging one or both parents to understand, practice, and communicate Christ-like love to their children. Easy to read and work into a busy schedule, The Love Dare for Parents is designed to “turn the hearts of parents to their children and turn the hearts of children to their parents” (Malachi 4:6) so that moms and dads can more fully enjoy and delight in their children while maximizing the positive impact they have on their lives long term.

Each day brings a promising key verse from Scripture, a biblical principle about love that applies to parenting, a specific challenge the parent does for the sake of their child, and space to journal thoughts and reflect on what happened that day.

My husband and I actually began this book together this past Sunday. I'll be honest with you, the journey for us is very intimate and private. Every parent has its strengths and weaknesses when it comes to parenting. I was even surprised when I took the online assessment. We both look forward to the daily dares, and want to be more Christ-like in our parenting.

I wanted to share with my readers that we are going through this 40 day journey, so that you remember us in prayer. I also thought it only fair to bless one of my readers with their very own copy of this book now rather than wait until after we finish it. I want to pray for you as take the dare.

The mandatory entry is easy. Answer this question: Are you ready to take the dare?

Rockin' Refuel Review & Giveaway

As the weather warms and  everyone becomes more active, it's always great to find a new protein beverage. Rockin’ Refuel is a line of protein beverages made with real milk designed to help everyday athletes build lean muscle. It is made by Shamrock Farms, a nationwide dairy located in Arizona.  Rockin’ Refuel is developed to provide those looking to stay in shape with a great tasting and more natural way to develop lean muscle mass.

Rockin' Refuel sent our family 7 bottles of their great tasting protein milk beverages. We all loved the taste, but my 13 year old athlete dominated over the drink. The drinks arrived the week of 8th grade basketball tryouts. His first year of school ball. We live in a huge school district. About 130 boys tried out. 32 spots for 3 teams were filled. He made it.  WooHoo!!! When he got home both days from school, he carbed up and drank a Rockin' Refuel. Then again after he finished with his tryout for the night.

The flavors they sent us are chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. His favorites are the Chocolate Muscle Builder and Recovery. Why chocolate milk? Based on recent research, chocolate milk is shown to help people recover after exercise. It helps refuel exhausted muscles, making energy available nearly twice as effective as commercial sports drinks. As a mother, here are the things that caught my attention: NO high fructose corn syrup, 20 g of protein (muscle recovery), natural electrolytes, low in fat, full of flavor, made with real milk and 9 essential vitamins.

After reading those nutrition guidelines, I was very eager for my young athlete to drink Rockin' Refuel over some of the other leading sports drinks. Especially, if the protein is going to help fill him up.

Rockin’ Refuel is made up of world-class athletes, respected organizations, and top-level universities and high schools that demand the best. That’s why they don’t settle for anything less than the right kind of protein beverage for their training needs. To find out which Rockin' Refuel is right for you, go to this link.

You can order Rockin' Refuel online or find a store near you. The drinks are also at your area QuikTrip, Wal-Mart and 7-11 stores.

Which one of my readers wants their own Rockin Refuel protein milk beverage? Rockin' Refuel is sending one of you a case (12) of  MUSCLE RECOVERY CHOCOLATE ASEPTIC

  • 20g high quality, natural protein
  • 2:1 carbs to protein – optimal ratio for muscle recovery
  • 100% great tasting, real low fat milk
  • Excellent source of protein and calcium (not found in traditional sports drinks)
  • Lactose free
  • Shelf-stable
  • NCAA compliant
How cool is that? All you have to do is answer the following question. What SPORT do you/your family member that will be drinking this protein milk beverage participate in?

The Amazing #SpiderMan 2 Review & Giveaway

I don't know about you, but one of the most anticipated Summer 2014 movies around my nest is The Amazing Spider-Man 2! It releases on May 2. I have a 13 year old son and his Daddy/my husband, who are HUGE movie buffs. The cast which includes:  Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn,Campbell Scott as Richard Parker, Embeth Davidtz as Mary Parker, Colm Feore as Donald Menken, Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich
and Sally Field as Aunt May, promises action and villains and a few explosives will give your family a thrill.

We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2™, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. Take a look at the trailer.

Pretty AMAZING, huh? But, we all know that no man is eternal, not even Spider-man. My family had the opportunity to review a  discussion guide for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It is a great resource for families to discuss a range of important themes that include the relationship between personal choices and destiny, living a life that counts, sacrificing yourself in service to others, and the nature of power. This guide will help parents start (or continue) conversations with their children that will inspire them to think outside themselves and challenge them to live lives that matter. The conversations that will result from using this guide will reveal that even the most explosive summer blockbuster can leave lasting, positive impacts on its young viewers.

I have included the discussion guide in this post. Feel free to right click/save so you can challenge your child(ren) to live a life that matters.

Throughout the discussion guide are Bible verses and discussion questions that encourage feedback on topics such as power, time, choices, destiny, and sacrifice. All while affirming the value of an individual. In a world full of  fake heroes, it is important for us as Christians to teach exactly that, all of these Super Heroes are fake. The only Super Hero that has ever laid down his life for us was Jesus Christ, he is the only one who offers eternal life.

Now, who wants to bring home an AMAZING Spider-Man 2 Prize Pack (t-shirt, paper mask and phone case)? Just enter on the easy Rafflecopter form below.

$100 Hapari Swimwear Giveaway! Closed

Only TWO more weeks until Spring Break, and only 12 weeks until School is out- that is if we have no more snow days and can continue to tack minutes onto school days that are remaining if any more occur.

With that being said, do you know what that means? Swimsuit time. The older I get and the older my children get the more I dread swimsuit season. Why?  Because I will be 40 this year.  I have come to the realization that I DO NOT and WILL NOT have the body I had at 19 or even 30! Plus, having a 13 year old son and a 7 year old daughter means I am still required to be present when they swim. I also feel that I must be more modest around my son and his friends. I mean really, I don't want to be showing off this fabulous almost forty mommy body to them, right?
When it comes to swimwear, I love Hapari. I personally own two of their suits and just ordered my third. My own mother, a grandmother of 11 also owns two. I love the philosophy of this swimwear company: "Hapari has always strived to create swimwear that enhances a woman’s natural beauty, because we believe that all women, regardless of shape or size, should to look and feel beautiful in their swimwear." Hapari is excited to announce the arrival of its new 2014 swimwear line: the limited edition Palm Desert Collection and the Tahiti Collection. The new designs and prints in these collections are not going to last long, so you will want to grab them while you can, they are adorable. Hapari has designs for women that include bikinis, one pieces, tankinis, and coverups. They even offer styles for men, kid and something you don't see often, Mastectomy Swimwear All of their swimsuits are so cute, but I especially love their tankinis.

This is one of my favorites, I actually wore it last year, the Zebra Classic Bandeau Tankini Top, I paired it with the Turquoise Straight Skirt and the Turquoise Tummy Tuk bottoms.

This is my new suit for 2014. I decided to add BLACK to my wardrobe this year. This is the Black Seaside Tankini and Swimdress from the Tahiti Collection. It can be worn tied up like in the above picture or as a swim dress like below. I purchased the Black Straight Skirt and Black Tummy Tuk Bottoms to go with it. LOVE! I cannot wait to get my tan on.

When it comes to modest, good quality swimwear, for me Hapari wins hands down. I am so excited to be partnering with them again this year to give one of my readers a $100 gift code to Hapari.

REQUIRED ENTRY: What suit will you choose? Leave comment in Disqus Comment form. This is mandatory. If comment is not left, then all extra entries on the Rafflecopter form will be disqualified.
