Alone Yet Not Alone Book Giveaway

The 4-Crow's blog uses affiliate links, please see the Disclosures Policy page for more details.

In August of last year, I wrote this post about the book Alone Yet Not Alone: Their faith became their freedom by Tracy Leininger Craven. I have been approached again to give another copy of this book away.

On July 13, 2014 the movie based upon this book will be released. You may have even heard of the controversy surrounding the same titled song performed by Joni Eareckson Tada which was nominated for an Oscar, and then the nomination was rescinded.

The story is actually inspired by a true story, which her grandmother Leininger first told her when she was young after tracing their family’s genealogy. This story made a strong impression on Tracy as a child, and she actually wrote the first draft of Alone Yet Not Alone at the young age of 9! Of course, the content has changed a bit with this published version, but one thing has never changed for Tracy – the picture of the two young sisters torn from family during their tender years and despite all obstacles, they do not forsake their faith in Jesus Christ and never “lose the song of their hearts.”

I am inspired to make sure that good books get into the hands of as many people who will read them. Especially Young Adult books. Summer break is only 10 weeks away!!!

Enter on the easy Rafflecopter form below. I am also running this on my FB page.

Chasing God by Angie Smith: Review & Giveaway #chasingGod Closed

Stop Chasing Him. Stop Chasing God and Follow HIM. Those three simple words- Stop Chasing Him changed everything for Angie Smith, and she believes they can do the same for us.

"Let's be honest: we've all questioned whether or not we're doing this "Christianity thing" the right way. Am I really a Christian? If I'm doing everything right, why do I feel so far from God? What am I missing?"
Best-selling author and highly sought-after speaker Angie Smith struggled with these same questions, and the answers she discovered inspired her new book, Chasing God (B&H Publishing, January 2014). In Chasing God, Smith unpacks how our earthly, unrealistic expectations of God result in us chasing Him, keeping us from following Him.

Take a look at the following video.

So I have started this book, and I admit, there are more times than not that I do look good on paper. I do what I am "supposed" to according to the religious aspects of Christianity. I go to church, read my Bible, I pray, I even teach. But do I have that relationship that is required of me? Christianity isn't about living? It's about letting the desires of life die off so I can truly seek, follow and have a relationship with Him.

I do have a copy of Chasing to give away to one very blessed reader. For some this book is a very personal subject, and I respect that, so I am not going to ask any mandatory question other than "Who wants to add this book to your library?" Bonus entries are available.

1 Girl Nation CD: Review/Giveaway- Closed

Oh be careful little ears what you hear. That may be a simple verse to a child's Sunday school song, but believe me, it does matter what our kids listen too. My daughter is 6 and her friend that we take to school and pick up daily is 4. We have been listening to a new CD this week in the car. I have to tell you, hearing them singing about being "Daddy's Girl" and "Living for Jesus while their Young" is certainly more appealing than some guy singing to them about a girl with pretty brown eyes with a magazine figure shaped like a bottle. Just my opinion. Of course I am the guilty mother that doesn't really always pay attention and know the lyrics to songs, just a few words. I MUST pay more attention.

Can I just say, I HAVE paid attention this week and LOVE 1 Girl Nation!!! I love that my girl loves them. I even received a text from our little friend's mom asking me what the Daddy song was- believe me this song will be your little/big girl's and husbands favorite!

"Landing in the space where One Direction meets TobyMac, 1 Girl Nation is an exciting blend of upbeat pop music, with lyrics that are totally focused on living life for God, even while you’re young. 1GN, as they’ve already been dubbed, stars Carmen, Kayli, Kelsey, Lauryn Taylor and Lindsey, five girls with a passion for telling their fans about Christ through their music. Their first single, “While We’re Young,” can be heard on radio stations across the country and their self-titled debut album is available now!"

Listen for yourself!

Not only did I get a copy to review, but I also get to bless one of my readers with their very own copy of the 1GN CD. This CD is for preteens, teens, and young adults (as well as parents, too!) Who wants it? Just say "ME" in a Disqus comment! Bonus entries are available and encouraged. You will definitely want to be following these girls on all their social media sites!

Audrey Bunny by Angie Smith: Review & Giveaway

God made us. God loves us. He is coming to rescue us.

This is the Epic line of what our church is teaching to our entire children's ministry right now. I couldn't help but just constantly repeat this as I read and reviewed this book by Angie Smith, wife of Todd Smith (lead singer of Dove Award winning group Selah). Angie is also best-selling author of Mended, I Will Carry You, and What Women Fear, and one of the most popular speakers and blog writers in the country. She holds a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Vanderbilt University and lives with her husband and daughters in Nashville, TN.

Audrey Bunny is such a sweet children’s book about a stuffed animal named Audrey Bunny who fears her imperfections make her unworthy of a little girl’s love. She'll learn the truth soon enough, and young readers will learn that everyone is special and wonderfully made by God.

I just love how Angie takes the analogy of a basket of stuffed toys and compares them to our own lives. We are all wonderfully made. He chose us. And we are all special. All children need to hear this. We have a cradle of those toys and believe me, all are precious in my six year old daughter's eyes, just as each child is precious in His sight.

I am so excited to be able to offer one of my readers one of their very own copies of this book to read to a special child/children in their lives. All you have to do is tell me WHO you will read to in a MANDATORY Disqus comment, then come back and put your entries on the easy Rafflecopter form.

Rufus and Ryan Go To Church! Book Review & Giveaway

Do you know a little one ages 2 to 5? Maybe even teach a group of kids this age at church? I have the perfect book for you. Rufus and Ryan Go To Church!  You can save it for Christmas, maybe even a birthday gift, or donate it to your church. This book is perfect for church nurseries and preschools!

It has even been a fun read for my 6 year old. She was able to read some of the book herself. She even got the idea that maybe she should take her American Girl Doll to church. ;-)

In Rufus and Ryan Go to Church!, four-year-old Ryan explains to his stuffed monkey, Rufus, what is happening as they attend church on Sunday morning. He lets Rufus know when it’s time to sing and to pray and to be quiet. Author Kathleen Bostrom brings a delightfully light touch to the text as she provides an introduction to an experience that most children are exposed to long before they understand why. And children everywhere will relate to the idea of explaining their surroundings to their favorite companions as they go about their daily activities.

This is just one of the first titles in a new series of inspirational books for preschoolers. Also available is Rufus and Ryan Say Their Prayers.

Who wants their very own copy of this book? All you have to do is answer the one mandatory question in a Disqus comment below then put your entries on the Rafflecopter form. Bonus entries are available. This giveaway is open internationally!

Who will you share your copy of Rufus and Ryan Go To Church! with?

SafetyTat Review & Giveaway- CLOSED

Two times this month, I have felt that moment of "parent panic". You know the panic where your child is in a public place and although I didn't take my eyes off of her, my eyes just couldn't find her. Once at our local Rooster Days festival here in Broken Arrow and then again along with five of her classmates at her Kindergarten field trip to the Tulsa Zoo. Thankfully my "parent panic" lasted as long as a blink of an eye, but what if truly one of those children had wandered off from my watch. Yes, these six year olds know their phone numbers, but in a moment of being scared and separated from their parent/leader the chances of them remembering is slim. What about younger children? What if that "just in case" happened?

SafetyTat  "The Tat That Brings Kids Back!"  The company specializes in temporary tattoos which display a parent/caregivers mobile phone number, helping the parent and child to quickly be reunited if separated. Founder Michele Welsh, Mom of three (twins + plus one) is proud to be called a "Mompreneur" and has personally designed, patented and marketed this line of super convenient child safety products. Michele created these products to make her life measurably less stressful, and coincidentally discovered a much needed new market segment.

The story of their company, products, press and customer testimonials are found here on their website.

SafetyTat can give a parent, teacher or care giver peace of mind when a child is off to birthday parties, school field trips, play dates and more!

Believe me when I tell you this,  my daughter's teacher will be getting these for her class on the first day of first grade. Once the SafetyTat is applied to the skin, which requires NO water, a parent/teacher writes their mobile number on it. The Quick Stick Write-On's that we have are peel and stick. They are made of super-durable material and can last for for up to a week. Removal is as easy as a band-aid, without the ouch!

I have teamed up with SafetyTat to give one of my readers their very own packet of the Quick Stick Write-On! Multi 3-pack tattoos. In addition, my readers will receive 10% off an order of $15 or more by using the code The4Crows. The coupon code is good now through June 5, 2013, so hurry and get your order in.

Entry for this giveaway is simple. Tell me in a blog comment about a "parent panic" moment you had, then let me know you did it on the easy Rafflecopter form. Additional entries are available. Open to U.S. and Canada.

Is there anything else to life than those three things on the weekends? Not at my nest.
My husband is telling everyone about this movie. He loved it. We all loved it, but if Daddy Crow is singing praises, you know its good.  It was awesome to see familiar faces in this movie and to see how they come together for the glory of God to Ring the Bell.

Hey God, I've Got Some Guy Named Jonah in My Stomach and I Think I'm Gonna Throw Up!- Review & Giveaway

We read a lot of books. In fact, my kindergarten daughter has her own shelf on Goodreads where I keep track of what we read, so I can write them down at the end of the month on her Pizza Hut Book It! sheet. The Book It! program has ended for the year and now she must read 10 books a week to earn
ICE CREAM. Scoop by scoop, topping by topping. Last night we read ALL 10 for the week. Including the not yet released book below.

Hey God, I've Got Some Guy Named Jonah in My Stomach and I Think I'm Gonna Throw Up!

The whale tells his side of the story. The whale? Why not? Great concept for telling Bible stories. Even though my six year old knew the story, she really was captivated by this tale.
Brought to you by B&H Kids and available May 1, 2013, this is just the first in a series! Other books available will include Hey God, Can You Stop the Rain so I Can Get off Noah's Smelly Ark? and Hey God, I'm Having an Awful Vacation in Egypt Thanks to Moses! .

This book is just $9.99 and will entertain you and your kids! I get to give a copy to one of my readers. Who wants it? Enter on the Rafflecopter form below.

About the Book:
Oh sure, we've all heard the story of Jonah and the Whale a hundred times. But have we heard it from the perspective of the whale who experienced that history-making event? Hey God, I've Got Some Guy Named Jonah in My Stomach and I Think I'm Gonna Throw Up! Imagine how that great sea creature from the incident might tell his side of the story, helping kids ages 4 to 8 discover a creative way of learning about that guy who was supposed to go to Ninevah. The "Parent Connection" feature (inside the book) will help moms and dads take the story further with scripture references and tips on how to talk with their children about what really happened.

About the Author:

This is Our Time DVD Review & Giveaway

What is God asking me to BE?

Wow! This has been my discovery year. My word of the year has been FAMILY. Never did I imagine just four months into the year the challenges, adventures, and doors God would put before me. One of the things that I will share is that taking a stand for what you believe in, even if it means walking away from something that you love, you will probably find that, that love wasn't right for you after all. There truly is a season for everything. Vague, I know, but to truly BE who God wants me to be one of the decisions I have had to recently make is that I will no longer be writing as Mrs. Hart at The RHOK.
What God is asking me to be right now, is a reflection upon HIM in all I do, say, portray and write. I am accountable to Him for all of my actions and any actions linked to my name and my family's from this moment forward. Strong yes, but just like the disclosures on my blog, I stand behind and only recommend what I believe is good and family oriented. I am not saying I am perfect or holier than thou, far from it. I am saved by grace, just like everyone else.
As you all know, I love bringing home family movies into my home. A time to put away the electronics and a time to sit and enjoy each others company. We had the opportunity to review this movie at the perfect time. I'm not going to give too much away, but just know, This is Our Time couldn't have came at a better time.
I hope that it also comes at a good time for one of my readers.

About This Is Our Time:

The movie tells the interwoven stories of Luke (T.J. Dalrymple) and Alé (Erin Bethea), who marry right after school and move to India to serve as missionaries for Embrace A Village, a ministry that cares for those afflicted with leprosy and their families; aspiring financier Catherine (Kate Cobb), who joins a prestigious financial institution determined to make an impact on corporate America; Ryder (Matthew Florida), who lands an impressive job in social media and can’t wait to use the powerful medium for a greater good; and Ethan (Shawn-Caulin Young,) seemingly the odd man out, who struggles to find his God-given-purpose and feels sidelined by God.

"What they all come to learn is that it never really was their time,” Arnold said. “It always was, always is, God’s time.”

This Is Our Time is presented by Pure Flix
Releases on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday on April 16, 2013. It will be available nationwide at Family Christian Stores and most Christian online and brick-and-mortar retail stores nationwide.
