Review: Lumo Project- The Gospel of John #JohnonNetflix

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.-
John 1:1

The Lumo Project is a new movie series about the four Gospels in the Bible- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I had the opportunity over Thanksgiving break to watch The Gospel of John via private weblink courtesy of FlyPropeller. Y'all, I couldn't put this movie down. I was able to pick from three different versions: NIV Version, King James Version, or Spanish. I chose the NIV. I truly felt like I was in the movie with John as he walked and talked about the life my Lord and Savior. I have never been one for narration films, but truly I didn't even know it was being narrated.

The Gospel of John was released on Netflix on Monday, December 1st. The rest of the series will be coming soon, and you won't want to miss it.

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN

"The Gospel of John takes the story of Jesus from John’s gospel with its own unique characteristics. For John, Jesus is the Word of God made human. John is clear that that when encounter Jesus, we encounter God. The gospel writer points to the miracles (the ‘Signs’) and teachings as evidence of Jesus’ special relationship as the divine Son of God.

This full-length feature film about the life of Jesus takes the actual Gospel text as its script, word for word, unedited. Five years in the making, this epic production has been critically acclaimed by leading religious scholars as a unique and highly authentic telling of the Jesus story. Narrated by leading British actor David Harewood (‘Homeland’, ‘Blood Diamond’, ‘Merchant of Venice’) it is based on the latest theological, historical and archaeological research. With specially constructed sets and the extraordinarily authentic villages and countryside of rural Morocco, it immerses the viewer in the world of first century Palestine."

The Gospel of John has always been one of my favorite books of the Bible. One of my favorite parts is when Jesus comes down and asks John to baptize him. No, our Lord didn't have to be baptized but he did it. He led by example. What an awesome story. What an awesome Savior we have.

Be watching for the other for Gospels as they release. "FOUR GOSPELS. FOUR FILMS. ONE JESUS STORY. FOR EVERYONE.A ground breaking, multi-language biblical film resource transforming the way we discover, study and engage with the life of Jesus through the four New Testament Gospels.

The Lumo Project is a ground breaking, multi-language biblical film resource transforming the way we discover, study and engage with the life of Jesus through the four New Testament Gospels: redefining the standard of visual Biblical media. The Lumo Project presents four films – one for each Gospel account – that will revolutionise the way we all experience the story of Jesus and the world of First Century Palestine in which he lived."

Double Book Review & Giveaway: Grace Unplugged & Own It

Grace Unplugged
Written by: Melody Carlson
Publisher: B&H Books
Paperback: 304 pages
Release Date: September 1, 2013
$15.99

Put yourself in this scenario. You are a Christian. A singer. All of a sudden you get the opportunity to do what every girl dreams of, to be a popstar. Do you compromise your faith while in the entertainment world, or do you own it? On the other hand, you are the parent of an upcoming talented Christian individual, and you want to help influence them to make the right decisions for their life.

About Grace Unplugged the Novel
"Grace Trey is an 18 year old singer as passionate about her Christian faith as she is her phenomenal, God-given musical talent. Both traits come from her father, one hit wonder Johnny Trey who found Jesus after losing his chart success two decades ago. When Grace encounters her own music break of a lifetime, the sudden dive into the "real world" puts her deeper beliefs to the test. Pop superstardom is just within reach but appears to require some spiritual compromise. Will Grace reject her faith, or will she own it?

Grace Unplugged is based on the motion picture of the same name starring AJ Michalka (Super 8) and Kevin Pollak (A Few Good Men) with performances by award-winning artists Chris Tomlin and Jamie Grace."

After you read this book, you will definitely want to to go see the movie which releases on October 4th. Take a look at the trailer.

My friend was able to prescreen the movie, this is what she said,

" All I want is to raise my children up to love the Lord with all their heart, to serve Him and to follow Him. This movie would make the perfect mommy/daughter date to open up a conversation with your teen about what their hopes and dreams are for their future and what your hopes and dreams are for their future."
- Jennifer, Just Wedeminute

Not only did I get to review the novel Grace Unplugged, but also the book Own It, which actually appears and is given to the character Grace in the movie Grace Unplugged.

Publisher: B&H Publishing

Without solid beliefs, poor choices are likely to follow. You must take the time to really know who you are, who you are becoming, and who God made you to be. It's your personal faith . . . own it!"

One of  my blessed readers is going to receive their very own copy of BOTH books! How cool is that? All you have to do is enter on the easy Rafflecopter entry form. There is one mandatory entry. What did you dream of being when you grew up?  Extra entries are available.

Alone Yet Not Alone Book Review & Giveaway

I admit, I love young adult books. I love getting lost in historical books. Any opportunity I get to read and pass on to my son, nephews or niece is a bonus. I don't get that opportunity often. I particularly like when the book is based on a true story and shows faith and perseverance. FlyPropeller sent me the above book to read and I also get to give one away to a blessed reader.

Who Wants It?

About Alone Yet Not Alone (novelization):

"Settled in the Blue Mountains of Pennsylvania, deep within America's new frontier, the Leininger family celebrates the blessings of a beautiful homestead and bountiful harvest. That is, until tragedy strikes with the beginning of the French and Indian War and the devastating raid known as the Penn's Creek Massacre.

The lives of this simple, God-fearing family are forever altered when Barbara and Regina, two young sisters, are carried away by the Delaware tribe. Driven by their faith in God and the powerful bonds of family, Barbara and Regina hold firmly to the belief that they are never alone, even in their darkest hour, and that they will be reunited again.

Rich in historical details, Alone Yet Not Alone is an inspirational, true story of a family caught in the cross fire of the French and Indian War."

On September 27, 2013 the movie version of Alone Yet Not Alone releases in theaters. How cool is that? The book includes several pages of pictures from the movie. I can't wait, it does appear to be coming to two theaters in the Tulsa area. Families will love this film based on a true story! The film has been awarded 5 Doves from the Dove Foundation! Starring: Kelly Greyson, Natalie Racoosin, Clay Walker, Jenn Gotzon, Joanie Stewart, Ozzie Torres and Tony Wade.

Once again we were able to enjoy a movie with three of our favorite things: God, Family and Sports.
Is there anything else to life than those three things on the weekends? Not at my nest.
My husband is telling everyone about this movie. He loved it. We all loved it, but if Daddy Crow is singing praises, you know its good.  It was awesome to see familiar faces in this movie and to see how they come together for the glory of God to Ring the Bell.

I am so excited that I get to help give away a copy of Ring the Bell to one of my readers.

This is Our Time DVD Review & Giveaway

What is God asking me to BE?

Wow! This has been my discovery year. My word of the year has been FAMILY. Never did I imagine just four months into the year the challenges, adventures, and doors God would put before me. One of the things that I will share is that taking a stand for what you believe in, even if it means walking away from something that you love, you will probably find that, that love wasn't right for you after all. There truly is a season for everything. Vague, I know, but to truly BE who God wants me to be one of the decisions I have had to recently make is that I will no longer be writing as Mrs. Hart at The RHOK.
What God is asking me to be right now, is a reflection upon HIM in all I do, say, portray and write. I am accountable to Him for all of my actions and any actions linked to my name and my family's from this moment forward. Strong yes, but just like the disclosures on my blog, I stand behind and only recommend what I believe is good and family oriented. I am not saying I am perfect or holier than thou, far from it. I am saved by grace, just like everyone else.
As you all know, I love bringing home family movies into my home. A time to put away the electronics and a time to sit and enjoy each others company. We had the opportunity to review this movie at the perfect time. I'm not going to give too much away, but just know, This is Our Time couldn't have came at a better time.
I hope that it also comes at a good time for one of my readers.
Who wants a copy of their own? Enter on the Rafflecopter form below.

About This Is Our Time:

The movie tells the interwoven stories of Luke (T.J. Dalrymple) and Alé (Erin Bethea), who marry right after school and move to India to serve as missionaries for Embrace A Village, a ministry that cares for those afflicted with leprosy and their families; aspiring financier Catherine (Kate Cobb), who joins a prestigious financial institution determined to make an impact on corporate America; Ryder (Matthew Florida), who lands an impressive job in social media and can’t wait to use the powerful medium for a greater good; and Ethan (Shawn-Caulin Young,) seemingly the odd man out, who struggles to find his God-given-purpose and feels sidelined by God.

"What they all come to learn is that it never really was their time,” Arnold said. “It always was, always is, God’s time.”

This Is Our Time is presented by Pure Flix
Releases on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday on April 16, 2013. It will be available nationwide at Family Christian Stores and most Christian online and brick-and-mortar retail stores nationwide.

Home Run: The Book Giveaway

By now you have probably heard that there is a new soon to be Christian movie released April 19th similar to Courageous, Facing the Giants, and Fireproof.

In fact here is one of the reviews:
“What Courageous was for fatherhood, and Fireproof for marriages, Home Run is for battling addictions, bad habits, and hang-ups. The inspiring and authentic message of Home Run is that freedom is possible.”

I personally am very excited and supportive of this film after meeting last Fall, one of the Celebrate Recovery© Representatives Norma Murphy, who played a huge role in getting the film "rolling" between producers and CR founders. Norma is at Southern Hills Baptist Church here in Tulsa.

About the Movie:
The story is centered around the life of Major League baseball player Cory Brand. After years of self indulgent behavior and reckless living, a DUI and team suspension land Cory back in the Oklahoma town where he started. Forced to coach the local Little League team and spend eight weeks in Celebrate Recovery©, the only twelve-step program in town, Cory must face the memories that contributed to his life becoming so destructive as well as honestly confront the love he left behind.

I am especially excited to be able to offer ONE of my readers the opportunity to read the novelization of this movie before the movie actually hits theaters. I can guarantee you it WILL be a blessing.

The Woodcarver DVD Review & Giveaway

The 4-Crow's were blessed with the opportunity to watch another fantastic Christian family movie this past weekend. I cannot emphasize enough how nice it is to have a DVD playing in my living room that ALL four of us can sit down and watch, and not have to worry about innuendos or language. It is also wonderful to see a film that contains a Christian family that shares our same faith and values and to see how God WILL prevail, reveal, and protect if you just believe and pray. Already this week, it has made everyone of us reflect upon the simple letters WWJD in our actions and decisions. Also, throughout the movie I couldn't help but keep hearing the words "persistent prayer" whispered in my ear. You will have to let me know if you hear a voice.

I am so excited that I get to offer one of my readers this very same movie.
The Woodcarver, which releases Tuesday, March 13, 2012 can also be purchased through ChristianCinema.com.

Here is a little more about the movie from the cover:

"Matthew Stevenson is a troubled kid from a broken home. When he vandalizes the local church to get back at his parents, Matthew has to repair the damage to the church to avoid criminal charges. While working at the church, he meets Ernest (John Ratzenberger), an accomplished wood carver who created the intricate woodwork decoration that Matthew destroyed. Ernest has become something of a hermit, but reluctantly comes out of reclusion to help repair the church. Now Ernest and Matthew must work together to preserve the church's beautiful antiquity, and along the way, they also manage to restore their faith in God and in life."

Now, who wants to own a copy of this movie to add to their DVD collection?
All you have to do is leave me a comment below telling me who you will watch this movie with.
Then fill out the easy Rafflecopter entry form. Five extra entries can be obtained just by following the Rafflecopter entry form.
