MckLinky Monday: The Proposal

The RHOK

This week at The RHOK the question is How Did He Propose?

For the Crow Love Bird's, it was Superbowl 39 (don't ask me to figure out the Roman Numerals),
February 5, 2005! I worked that particular Saturday. Jason, Braden, who was only four years old at the time, and my MIL went to Star Jewelers in downtown Broken Arrow to pick out the ring. What an awesome, thoughtful man to include his future son in not only such a huge purchase decision but a life decision. After work, my normal routine was to buy groceries at Wal-Mart. The guys met me, don't you know how hard it was for them to keep a secret?  Five years ago, this past SuperBowl weekend my wonderful husband hid an engagement ring in the grocery bags that I brought home from Wal-Mart, he waited patiently while I put them away, and then when I found the box, he dropped to his knee and became the happiest man ever when he made me the happiest woman ever! I love SuperBowl weekends! And yes, I always check for hidden treasure in everything!!

MckLinky Monday: Lessons Learned in Marriage

The RHOK

Today at The RHOK its tell
What funny or not lessons did you learn during your first year of marriage?
Hmm, can I say that I am approaching my fifth year of marriage May 19th and am still learning by the day?
Here is my top 10 list, Jason approved of course:

  1. He is not my Ex-Husband, the things my ex did, Jason does not do and I should not ever expect that behavior, there is a reason an ex is an ex. Jason simply is not that proud!

  2. I knew he had the big brown recliner when we met, it was his and obviously if it already had an imprint of his rear in it, that should have been a big clue!

  3. He likes his cereal or should I say box of cereal and could care less if I cook for him or not, he does not expect a me to cook for him, my feelings should not be hurt.

  4. Some women would love a man to clean the house, so what if he is doing my job!

  5. The only thing he does not like me to do in the evenings is laundry, why?

  6. I have learned not to throw away holey underwear and socks- they are the most comfortable.

  7. Lately, a discussion is better documented in text, because I carry on conversation with too many people and fail to tell my spouse- OUCH! We are becoming busy parents.

  8. Why can't I mow the grass? I'm really not complaining.

  9. If toilets or another major operating fixture is fixed, it better be blogged, facebooked and tweeted about!

  10. He is the most wonderful Husband and Father in the World. He loves us all Unconditionally. He may not have been there when Braden was born, but he has stepped in, formed a bond and deservingly holds the honor of being called Daddy by both of  his children!

It's a Floppy Spring Around the Crow's Nest!

I finally got my Spring pedicure yesterday! I think Jason was very happy. Best $23 I've spent on myself all year long, if I do say so myself, what do you think? Definitely blog/brag worthy! And of course I am getting to wear my Flip Flops finally after that ankle injury last summer! Yay!!!

Check out the new design of FlipFlops I made the other night as a fundraiser for Braden's Football team BA Black- I call this Girlalicious and of course Kaybrie Jayne gets the trial pair. This pair is $10, call me or Facebook me to order. I can do almost anything.

This post is titled Floppy for a reason...not only do we have flip flops this spring, but we also have three wild floppy bunny rabbits running around between our house and the neighbors and they aren't scared! This is the second year they have come back. Miss Dusty, our neighbor makes sure they have fresh carrots to eat and of course they love to nibble on the clover and dandelions in the yards. Aren't they the sweetest? Hope everyone is having a great Spring, minus the allergies of course.

Mcklinky Monday- Where were you on April 19, 1995?

Today at The RHOK, the question is Where were you on April 19, 1995?

What an emotional question if you are an Oklahoman and if you have an memory at all of that tragic event. The first act of terrorism on American soil killing 168 of our own and then to find out that an American cititzen, an American soldier who had defended our country, actually had commited this act. The acts that followed the bombing give me a great sense of pride and make me so proud to call Oklahoma home! Oklahomans from all over the state joined in on the rescue efforts, those who couldn't gave blood, sent supplies, and prayed!

So, where was I? In Weatherford, OK. I was in my first semester of my senior year at SWOSU. I had just finished up my eight o'clock class and had a conference with my Grammar professor, yes I had Grammar at one time in my life. The conference was over my senior thesis, Communication in Management. The meeting did not take that long, I'm not sure why.  I was back in my dorm room by 9:30, those of us students lucky to have any reception or cable on our TV's were glued to our sets, the one's that didn't have TV's were glued to our sets. We were in awe. I don't know the stats, but probably a lot of students missed classes the remainder of the day as news filtered in. We were 70 miles west of the site. For those of us who didn't know someone in the Murrah building, we knew someone, who knew someone, who knew someone.

It was a real awakening moment for a college senior, knowing that my life was getting ready to start and that such evil was out there. I still was very protected and naive. I remember driving back home to Wilson from Weatherford on the weekends through El Reno on I-40, knowing that was where Timothy McVeigh was, and seeing the sign "Warning Hitchhikers may be escaped Inmates".

I finally visited the Oklahoma City Memorial  five years ago. It is beautiful, it is peaceful- but it is a complete shame that we had to build such a place. I will never forget that tragic day 15 years ago today.

Now its your turn to tell where you were, link up over at The RHOK, we Housewives want to know!!!

Oh Be Careful Little Minds What We Learn

For the past three weeks we have encountered lots and lots of learning at our house. Braden has had many hours of homework involving measuring with rulers and Jason has also had to measure a few things around the house for a few honey-do's. It is absolutely amazing what a three year old mind can pick up through all of these measuring events!

I so want to thank Jason for leaving that tape measure out. I also want to thank him and  Braden for teaching Kaybrie how to measure. You see, yesterday while I was putting clothes in the dryer she came up behind me and said,  "Mommy, I need to see how tall your bottom is." Then she proceeded to measure the width. And if you look really close at the tape measure above its only 15" wide! LOL!

Easter w/ The 4-Crow's

This year like most, we went to Wilson and spent Easter with my family. I am so thankful that I have a huge family and that because of our Easter traditions since I was a little girl, I learned the true meaning of Easter. Going to church and learning about the Resurrection of Christ, and knowing that Jesus died for me so that I might have eternal life, what an awesome story of truth and revelation! Family tradition means so much to me! This particular Easter Sunday, we had the privilege of a attending Marsden Baptist Church where my brother pastors, and then went back to my parents house to a wonderful prepared meal, by my Moma.  I got to visit with three aunts, two uncles, two cousins, a cousin in law, three second cousins, a close friend, seven nieces and nephews, my brother, sister, future BIL and SIL, and of course my parents. That makes 29 total including my family, what a blessing!

After lunch, my Moma and Aunt Gracie hid the Easter Eggs for the kids, below is a picture how many can you find?

Believe me, you didn't have to look that hard, LOL!

My Sister's Family- Jeff, Stephanie, Jadyn, Grady & Rowdy
 (Cody was at his Mom's)
Rowdy Zane proud of his find!

 Grady Allen's First Easter!

Isn't my Moma's yard just beautiful?

"What is a Housewife"

Yes, I am a Housewife, a SAHM, a Domestic Engineer, oh so many titles...thank the Lord He blessed me with these broad shoulders. When filling out most applications though the only option is Housewife. I kind of like  love it! It means that I have a hard working man that cares for his family enough to provide and make ends meet so that his wife can stay home and take care of his children and home.  Sure, it is tough sometimes and I will often speak write of those times, but only as a way to help myself and other women through it.

When it comes to household duties, I am not the best housekeeper, I hate, hate, hate taking out the trash. But I love doing laundry. When homework rolls around it helps to be 100% rested and focused or the boy and I clash terribly, we are a lot alike. Cooking, I love to cook and I love to eat more!

Being a Housewife is the toughest job I have ever had. But to to me is considered to be a huge blessing. A blessing that I hope continues for a long while.

For the Times You Just Wish You Had a Hidden Camera

Like most thirty something women, I am a Twilight fanatic! I have read all four books, and cannot wait for the movies to come out in theater. When the first movie came out, Jason was very interested in going with me! When the second movie New Moon came out, he wanted to go, but was so ecstatic willing to let his beautiful wife have a GNO with Stacye! So, as soon as New Moon hit the shelves last weekend, being the fantastic beautiful wife I am, braved the Spring snowstorm on Saturday and purchased the blu-ray version for my DH's viewing pleasure! I am now under the complete opinion that unless you have read the books you must not watch the movies. And I declare another GNO right now for June 30th, to go see Eclipse!
Now here is where I wish I had the hidden camera! I would so submit it to SNL!

Jason's impression of the movie went something like this: Oh Bella I had plenty of time to do laundry in Twilight (shirt on), but now in New Moon there is no laundry soap (shirt off)-He just doesn't get it, but declares Team Edward all the way, LOL!

And, for the record, what thirty-something woman wouldn't become somewhat of a cougar after seeing Jacob/Taylor Lautner, that beautiful male species take his shirt off- oops, did I say that? BTW did you see the Ken doll version, they never made Ken look that good when I was a little girl? And no I did not buy it!
But, I am still a SUCKER, get it, for a good love story, so long live Edward and Bella....

Spring Break 2010

Okay, Okay, so legally I guess Braden is the only one around here who gets a Spring Break, but since we were all itching for some fun Springtime activities can't a Mom and little sister join in on the activities as well? It's really not fair for a nine year old boy to perform the day to day rituals that a SAHM does, right? He needed to have some fun during Spring Break right, and of course he had to have chaperones! See I reasoned it out enough, right? So here goes Spring Break 2010 for us, err, I mean Braden!

Saturday
So Friday night after the Dodgeball Tournament, Braden made the decision to stay the night with Grandma, knowing that there was a party at Chuck-E-Cheese the next day for Faith, Kaybrie's Bestie. While at the party, holding Kaybrie who I might add was deathly afraid of the big fake cheese eater, I get a call from Braden and Grandma and Braden wants to come to the party, claiming he didn't know- oh no we did not play that game! Speaking of game playing though, Miss Kaybrie did finally play some games and did pretty well!

Monday
Was kind of an all around day! We went over to our friends the Harringtons. In the blog world the are known as All About the 6-Frogs. Anyway Kortney and I met with some wonderful women about our Women of Faith confererence coming up in August and made Flip Flops for our boys tackle football team fundraiser. Braden, Spencer and the boys played outside. And of course Kaybrie, Olivia and the girls played dolls and also played outside. We did have a scary moment though. One little boy, I believe he was five, fell into the pool, Praise God he got to the side where Lady Olivia, Kortney's daughter helped pull him out. Bless his heart he had never been in water over his head before. He was so thankful to Lady O, he kept saying that she saved him!
Here are the Breast Cancer Flip Flops. We are selling them for $12. A $2 Donation will be made to Susan G. Komen. Contact me if you want a pair. We make all team colors and sports with names!

Tuesday
We went to lunch at Los Cabos with Stacye, Faith and Baby Jack. Then we went to Niehius Park, where it proved to be much colder than we thought. Brrr.......come back Spring!!! Then we went on to buy groceries at Wal-Mart-can't just have fun ALL the time! But the kids did get a Pez, where was my camera?

Wednesday- Happy St. Patrick's Day
Braden went to visit his grandparents and Kaybrie and I went to Target, seems like there was something we had to have- oh, shoes! And Starbucks! Yep, Stacye introduced me to my new drink-Mocha Frappucino w/ a extra shot of expresso light and I got our diva in the making a Caramel Apple Cider! Isn't she just the cutest w/ her Starbucks cup?
Then we went home and made a chocolate cake. Jason's Great Aunt Elenora Crow is moving to Houston with her daughter Vicki. My MIL pulled off the best surprise birthday/going away party ever with 26 people which included friends and family. Aunt Nora never knew what hit her!
This is Aunt Elenora and my MIL, Betty: these two ladies are really gonna miss each other!

Thursday
Zoo Day!!! Yay! Finally a day with my BFF Angie and her family! And boy was it crowded, of course the temps were in the mid 70's very nice for a picnic at the Zoo and that is just what we did!
Braden monkeying around!

All of the kids monkeying around, except for Hayden!
The kids actually went to the park bench and waited on the parents- PRICELESS!
The petting zoo is probably where we should have went to and stayed! That's where the animals were and where the kids had the most fun, besides the park!
Look at Little Sister petting the goat. She really enjoyed it!

Friday
We got up a early and got on our Easter best, WHAT? I finally scheduled Kaybrie's 3yr old professional portraits with my friend Serena. I am sooo happy with them. I will probably just do a slide show of all of them on the blog later, but here is probably one of my favorites of the kids together! Please if you are interested visit her website, look for her on facebook, book an appointment! She is wonderful!!!

I think know they love each other!!!

Now for Friday afternoon. I planned something for JUST the B'ster! A movie. Oh, yeah. The book series Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney has been turned into a movie. We invited his friend Sydney to go with us, and ended up meeting Kortney, Spencer, Dakota, and Olivia at the movie. The first movie was sold out, so we ended up shopping until the movie started. Can I just say I LOVED the movie. Kortney's friend Cathy also met us and out of all the adults in the movie our kids thought we were the coolest because
WE GOT IT!!!
We laughed so hard, who knows, maybe we were wimpy kids in school, or maybe we were the cool kids picking on the wimpy kids- all I can hope for is that our kids are neither and learned valuable lessons from that movie!
Syndey, Braden & Spencer- shopping! I love the irony of the return sign behind them.

Saturday & Sunday
Can I just say, we have all heard the saying by Will Rogers "If you don't like the weather in Oklahoma, wait a minute and it'll change."
Well it did! We got 8 inches of snow over the weekend! Gotta love the 70 degree temps on Thursday and Friday to the freezing temps that like to bring winter like precipation on the first day of Spring. Hopefully this is the last blast, but it did snow last year on March 28th!
Look at the drifts on the roof!

Dodgeball Anyone?

Dodgeball means any game in which players try to hit other players with balls and avoid being hit, according to Wikipedia. The last time I played Dodgeball, I think was in Elementary School and I'm thinking I don't have very good memories....something along the lines of a big red bouncy ball being thrown and hitting me right square between the eyes. So when Braden was asked to play in a Dodgeball Tournament for a fundraiser for my friend Kortney's son, I didn't hesitate in asking him if he wanted to, he's the age I was when I last played and is ever bit as big as the boy who pegged me in the head, so I felt glad to turn over my $10 donation to let him have some fun!!!

Here are the "boys" lined up and ready to hit and dodge, they had so much fun!!!

The above picture is our favored men's team. It consisted of a few of Braden's football coaches and a few the team dad's. On another note, this Dodgeball stuff is actually getting to be a pretty serious sport. I was actually surprised at the number of adult teams that there were, and the serious competition involved. My MIL went with me not knowing what to expect and actually enjoyed it. I do not know the official count of players, or if the trend has taken off because of the 2004 movie that starred Ben Stiller, but I will tell you this, this will not be the last post I write on Dodgeball!

Well....Blechhh on Them!! Beauty doesn't have to be Picked, not in Moma's Eyes!

I warned my readers from this post last year that I would once again enter my little princess into the Regis & Kelly Beautiful Baby Search Contest. The top ten finalist were announced today, and once again she did not make the cut. I am sure that with so many millions of submissions that her picture just got lost in the piles and piles of pictures. One thing different this year over the past two is that she actually made "The Gallery", not once, but 2X! LOL! So Prada, Louie, Coach and Jimmy you are gonna have to wait for me to visit the Big Apple another way, another time! Hugs and Kisses, Regis & Kelly, but Blechhh on your pickers, my Kaybrie is the Fairest of them All and her MOMA isn't blind!!!
P.S. Beauty only gets prettier every year, and she has one more year to qualify, see ya next year! Wonder if all the Mom's are as bad as I am? LOL!

Kaybrie Jayne- This is the picture we submitted!

This is a picture of her in "The Gallery"
